Composer and Interaction
The composer is the persistent editor at the bottom (or top) of your NMSh window where you type commands. It provides multiline editing, semantic syntax highlighting, and intelligent suggestions before a command is executed.
Composer Layouts
Section titled “Composer Layouts”You can position the composer via Config → Composer position:
- Bottom: The classic layout. Input stays at the bottom of the screen.
- Top: Input sits at the top; output pushes down.
- Flow: The composer naturally follows the newest output, similar to a traditional terminal.
You can also use a two-line layout where your prompt sits above the input line, or a one-line layout.
Semantic Highlighting
Section titled “Semantic Highlighting”As you type, NMSh tokenizes and highlights your command based on real shell knowledge. Commands, builtins, aliases, and functions are recognized. Partial input is never executed behind the scenes.
Predictive Suggestions (NMSh Native)
Section titled “Predictive Suggestions (NMSh Native)”Ghost text suggestions are ranked by:
- Fuzzy and acronym matching
- Frecency
- The current directory
- What usually follows the previous command
Navigation:
Right ArroworEndaccepts the full suggestion.Alt + Right Arrowaccepts the next word.Ctrl + N/Ctrl + Plists ranked alternatives.Escdismisses the suggestion.
The Command Palette
Section titled “The Command Palette”Press F1, Ctrl+Shift+P, Cmd+Shift+P, or type /palette to open the Command Palette. It allows you to search through NMSh slash-commands, settings, layout toggles, and themes without executing shell text.
